Acqua Italian Fine Dining Restaurant Bangkok

Update as of 2023: the restaurant continues to impress. The new country risotto with escargot is a delightful combination of flavours, reminding me of the forests of Umbria although the inspiration came from the forests of Sardinia. Second time round with the lemon tart. This time I enjoyed it more! Lemon tart zestily good 🤗. A soulful fine-dining experience with the right amount of zest and sophistication. My critical review: Ambience 5/5: The dining room sits in a renovated old house with a large tree enclosed in the middle. At one end the open kitchen is a wonder for all to see. Where I sat, the table overlooked a manicured garden, lit at night. The space is simply beautiful. Menu 5/5: surprisingly very extensive Food 4/5 (5 being Michelin 2-3 stars): Beautiful presented as works of art, fine ingredients perfectly prepared, and delicate flavours make the dishes very enjoyable. (See review in photo captions) Service 5/5: Warm, friendly, passionate, eager and efficient, from the Chef, restaurant manager and other staff - a service par excellence. Value 4/5: Given the generous portions e.g. truffles, the value here is very fair. I paid 2,500 baht for 3 course meal.

Staffs are welcoming and polite. The presentation of the food is absolutely gorgeous, meticulously decorated with playful combination of colors. Everything pretty much meets my expectation for a resto at this price level expect for the tase of the food. Some dishes tasted a bit bland and imbalanced. I'd expect the taste to be more stimulating to the palate or complexed than this.

Acqua's take on Italian food is definitely like no other Italian restaurants in Bangkok. Tried their degustation menu, which consisted a lot of chef Alessandro's signature dishes such as the squid tagliatelle and amaebi & Sicilian red prawns. Both were very light, fresh and delicious. Overall, the food here is light, fresh and highlight the key ingredient well.

Every dishes were perfectly cooked and seasoned. My personal favorite is the scallop and foie gras dish. The risotto was also very nice. Tiramisu was to die for. The only dish that was disappointing was the petite four in the end. I did not understand the concept nor the flavor combination. The staffs were attentive and respectful. Love the place.

Honestly disappointing from a restaurant that calls themselves “fine dining” the experience wasn’t up to standards. The food was more so just expensive ingredients put on a plate yet wasn’t enjoyable. To put it straight it didn’t taste good. Service was standard but nothing special however, there was a plate of food basically untouched as it didn’t taste good yet the waiter nor the chef came up to ask us how the food was or if everything was ok which should be the standard at a high end restaurant. Something else to note is the chef did not come and greet us, which we found odd. He merely walked past our table and gave us a nod. Overall I think the atmosphere of this restaurant is the selling point and the best part however the food really needs working on. For what we paid its disappointing to say the least and I would not recommend this restaurant unless you don’t mind paying just for a nice atmosphere.

Recently went there with a group of six, we were sat in a room tucked away from the rest of the dining room. We had two servers a woman and a man, woman was incredibly nice but the man seemed to have an attitude, never smiled and was not polite. The food was far from memorable, the head chef went around to other tables but only waved at us from a distance and didn’t come over even though I acknowledged him. Acqua calls themselves an “Italian Fine Dining Restaurant” and they certainly didn’t live up to the expectations. Even though we were a young group, our money is worth as much as anyone else. Will not recommend and will not be returning.
